The Tide

Photograph by Clark Little

Crashing in
Rushing out
Like the tide
You come and
go

And like the
steady sand
I wait
quiet and
inviting

Shining light
Then burning
out
I absorbed
too much
of you

And you were left
dark and dry
and I was left
alone.

I’m missing you
tonight
like I did
when you
were here

And I hope
you’ll come
crashing back
to the steady
shore.

There is a
place
where lights
burn bright
reflecting
from the
water

And there is a
place
where the
shore awaits
the calming
of the

tide.
